Between 1901 and 2018, the average temperature in India increased by about 0.7°C. Climate change brought on by greenhouse gases (GHGs) is mostly to blame for this temperature increase. India ranked seventh in terms of economic losses (66,182 million US dollars PPP) and fatalities (2,267 individuals) in 2019 as a result of climate change-related extreme weather events. In reality, as a result of extreme weather events brought on by climate change, 17 out of every 20 Indians are now at risk for hydromet disasters like flood, drought, and cyclones.
